Why Assam ?
Assam is one of India’s important agarwood-producing regions. The humid climate and traditional cultivation methods make it suitable for agarwood formation and oud oil production.
For OUDIQ, understanding oud could not happen from supplier catalogs or online sourcing alone. We wanted to see:
· How agarwood trees are cultivated
· How resin develops
· How infected wood is selected
· How distillation actually works
· Why every oud oil smells different
That required going to the source.
THE PLANTATIONS
THE PLANTATIONS
Walking through the plantations changes your understanding of oud.
Most consumers only know oud as a “luxury perfume note.” But in reality, oud begins as a tree under stress.
Agarwood forms when Aquilaria trees undergo natural or artificial infection. Over time, the tree produces dark aromatic resin as a defense mechanism.
Not every tree produces valuable agarwood. Not every infected tree produces high-quality resin. And not every piece of resinous wood produces exceptional oud oil.
This is why genuine oud remains rare, expensive, and inconsistent by nature.
